A collaborative small-ensemble experience for woodwind, brass, and string players
Young woodwind, brass, and string players** are invited to join Instrument Ensembles Camp, a lively and collaborative week of music-making centered on playing together in small ensembles.
Throughout the week, students are placed into thoughtfully matched groups based on level and experience, where they’ll explore a range of music alongside supportive coaches. Campers spend time rehearsing with their ensemble, receiving guidance during group coachings, and building the skills that make ensemble playing both successful and fun.
As the week unfolds, students strengthen music-reading skills while deepening their understanding of tone production, rhythm, intonation, and, at the heart of ensemble playing, listening and responding to one another. Pre-formed ensembles of friends are welcome to register together, and students will also have opportunities to connect with new musical peers.
Instrument Ensembles Camp is a great fit for students who enjoy playing their instrument and are excited to make music with others in an encouraging, engaging setting.
Prerequisites: Basic sight-reading skills. Minimum of one year of private lessons or school ensemble experience.
Placement assessment: Campers will be invited to attend a brief, in-person placement assessment in late spring. This assessment is not used to determine eligibility, but to help us form balanced ensembles that support a positive experience for all students. Details will be shared closer to the date.
*Younger students may be considered by inquiry. Please contact Lily@mcmcvt.org.
**Pianists will be considered by inquiry only. Please contact Lily@mcmcvt.org.
