Swing/Jazz Violin Workshop

Join celebrated Vermont violinist / fiddler David Gusakov (VSO) for a one-of-a-kind Swing/Jazz Violin Workshop this Fall. This four-class series explores various elements of jazz, including swing rhythm, syncopation, anticipation, upslides, pull-offs and more. Music presented includes classics such as Take the A Train, Sweet Georgia Brown, Well You Needn’t, and Puttin on the Ritz from several of the greats - Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, and others. Repertoire will be provided beforehand with written-out solos and ideas for improvising as well although no one will be asked to solo or improv in class. This class is open to ages 12+, basic competence on your instrument and ability to read notation is a must.
