Rodrigo Placencia grew up in Mexico City, where he began playing guitar at age 13. He was inspired to take on the instrument by his grandfather’s love for Mexican popular music and his middle school peer’s enthusiasm for American rock styles. While he aspired to learn to play electric guitar, his teacher immersed him in multiple styles like classical, jazz, funk, and blues. He became highly passionate about music and eventually moved to the United States to study classical guitar performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. For the past 17 years, he has been delighted to teach guitar and ukulele to people of all ages. When he is not making music, he enjoys traveling and exploring the great outdoors with his family.
