Melinda Williams

Piano

Melinda Rowe Williams grew up in a musical family and cannot remember a time when piano was not a part of her life.  She started lessons when she was 5 years old from her mother, Persis Rowe, a piano instructor to children and adults in Middlebury for several decades. Melinda received her Bachelor of Music Education with a Concentration in Piano from Gordon College where she studied with pianist and composer, Fred Broer, from the Boston area. After graduation she began teaching private lessons and in schools.

With over 25 years of experience teaching children, youth, and adults, she strives to give her students a competent knowledge of reading music along with the technical ability.  She explains, “I am happy when students learn the theory, technical skills and note reading needed to be a competent pianist, but my biggest joy is when I can help them bring those ‘lines and dots’ on the page to life, and I see them connect with the music internally.”
