Michael Corn

Guitar

Originally trained as a classical guitarist, Michael Corn has long since expanded his repertory to include Jazz, Folk, Rock, and Musical Theatre.

Michael’s career spans over three decades as a player, teacher and recording artist in Vermont and New England. He has played with the seminal alt-folk group “Feast or Famine”; the Franco-Canadian singers of “Va-et-Vient”; the Afro-Pop band “New Nile Orchestra”, and with numerous small combos and in theatre pit bands.

Prior to working at MCMC, he founded the Upstairs Guitars Studio in Middlebury. He currently holds down the guitar chair in the “EnerJazz” and “LC Jazz” big bands; and performs in a variety of settings as a soloist and sideman on guitar, bass, dobro and mandolin.

Notable teachers include Classical Guitarist Tom Goeghan; British Finger-Style master Martin Simpson, and Jazz studies with Vermont icon Paul Asbell. As a teacher himself, Michael now considers it his calling to pass on this love of music to the next generation!
