Testimonials
“Music Together® classes have been one of the most empowering parts of our family’s early years. Taking us from infant hood through to the toddler years, our family has grown musically together. But beyond that, we’ve formed a warm little community here in Middlebury through these classes that has trickled so beautifully into all aspects of our lives.”

“When we first came, we weren’t sure how she would respond, but she loves it. And so, she really engaged with it. Even when she was two months old, we thought it might be too much, but she was just mesmerized. I grew up with a very musical childhood, so it’s just important. We sing a lot at home.”

“The part about this that I think is the most helpful is the support it gives the parents. Just in terms of encouraging you. I had more of a musical background, my wife less, so for her, she’s sort of not as comfortable, and I’ve seen her get a lot more comfortable, like she would never sing before, because she was like, “I have a terrible voice,” you know? And now she sings all the time with us. It feels like it just sort of encourages us to be more musical with her, and gives my wife more confidence.”

Many times I need a piano student to sing/hum a tune so that we can isolate the melody and discuss rhythm or articulation. I can tell right away if a student has participated in a Music Together® or Rhythm Kids® class because they are not afraid to isolate that melody and it seems quite natural for them to do that. However, students who haven’t practiced that skill in a Music Together® or Rhythm Kids® in general feel very self-conscious or struggle to find the notes they want within their own bodies. I love that our Early Childhood Music Program is equipping students to recognize that they THEMSELVES are the music makers, and not their instruments and to be confident in their music-making abilities!
