Drew Kervick

Officer

-What makes our mission meaningful to you?
Creating and sharing music is a wonderful way to build community and to develop connections across generations and different backgrounds. Music-making also builds confidence, sparks joy and cultivates creativity. It provides an opportunity to escape from the worries or monotony of everyday life and to explore new worlds.

-What are some of your prior board leadership experiences?
I also serve on the board of directors of the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival, which organizes a week-long chamber music festival every August in Chittenden County, as well as additional musical performances and enrichment opportunities throughout the year. In addition, I am a member of the Town of Cornwall’s Planning Commission. I have previously served on the Public Policy Committee of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility, and on the board of directors of The Children’s School in South Burlington and Center City Little League in Burlington.

-What skills, connections, resources, and expertise do you have to offer and are willing to use on the behalf of the organization?
I have worked as an attorney since 2007, and bring to MCMC an analytical way of thinking and creative approach to problem solving, as well as a familiarity with nonprofit legal structures. In addition, I have a passion for Scandinavian folk music and have developed relationships with folk and classical musicians and organizations from around the world. I am excited about possible future collaborations and sharing of ideas with these individuals and organizations.

-How are your personal aspirations enhanced by board service?
Being a part of MCMC provides a creative outlet for me and opportunities to build community, to share my own musical interests with others, and to discover new musical and creative pursuits.

-What motivates you

I’m motivated by developing common connections, discovering beauty and inspiration, and shared laughter.
