GROUP PIANO FOR ADULTS

Picture
Picture
Group piano classes will introduce you to the fundamentals of piano playing in a group setting. Each class member will play their own keyboard. Skills we will practice include technique, sight-reading, playing by ear, theory, and repertoire. If you have always wanted to play the piano, this class offers a fun and supportive environment to learn something new!  Students should have access to a piano or weighted keyboard for practice outside of class; daily practice ensures advancement in keyboard proficiency.

Leanna Maglienti began teaching piano at the age of 14 through the Sonatina School of Music in her hometown of Bennington, VT.  Her earliest piano and pedagogical instruction was with Rosamond van der Linde, Sara Krohn and Rein van der Linde at SSM.  She was a junior faculty and faculty member at Summer Sonatina during her high school, college and several post-college years.

Leanna spent several years working on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, and then with the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts in Vienna, VA.  She performed for many years with the Thomas Circle Singers in Washington.  Since 2007, she has taught private and group lessons to both children and adults in her home studio in Middlebury and is excited to return to the collegiality of a local music school.

Leanna graduated from the University of Vermont with a BA in Music with a Theory Concentration, and studied post-graduate piano with Polly van der Linde and Edwin Lawrence. She is currently studying Taubman technique and piano pedagogy with Marilyn Taggart. She sings and performs regularly with Maiden Vermont in Addison, Rutland and Chittenden counties.  Leanna lives with her husband and two daughters in Middlebury, VT.

In addition to private piano lessons, Leanna teaches Adult Group Piano at MCMC.
