MCMC is proud to continue the longstanding tradition of the Allegro Chorus program in Addison County.
All three choruses carry the spirit of singing in a supportive environment, learning musicianship through collaboration, and the joy of singing together!
MELODY CHORUS (for 1st -3rd graders)
RHYTHM CHORUS (for 4th - 6th graders)
COMMUNITY CHORUS (for adults)
Allegro means “happy” in Italian, and is used to indicate a lively tempo in music. The Allegro Choruses are lively gatherings of people who want to share the joy of singing together. All are welcome - there are no auditions. In our weekly meetings, melodies, rhythms and harmonies are taught in the context of singing songs from around the world.
Allegro Children’s Choruses give kids the chance to discover their voices, to find joy in creating something beautiful together with their friends and to learn the power and responsibility inherent in being part of a team. As they tune to each other, learn to play rhythms together and compose songs together, children develop a sense of individual value and the feeling of belonging to a group.
Our teachers have lived and learned in a variety of different countries and strive to encourage curiosity and respect for other cultures among all the Allegro singers. Faculty members Susan Reit de Salas and Betty Kafumbe teach sight reading, healthy vocal practice and musicianship. At the end of each semester, the entire Allegro community shares their music with each other, their families and friends in a joint concert.
